Our Commitment

At Deeny, we believe your worship should remain between you and Allah. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what Deeny (the “App”, “we”, “us”) does and does not do with your information.

The Short Version

Your prayer log and worship data live on your device, not on our servers.
We run no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and no advertising identifiers.
We never sell, rent, or share your data for marketing.
You can use Deeny without creating an account or giving us your name or email.
Only two things ever leave your device: your approximate location (to look up prayer times) and, if you subscribe to Deeny Pro, the purchase information Apple and our subscription provider need to confirm your subscription.

What Stays on Your Device

The following is stored only on your device (and in your private iCloud backup, if you have one enabled — which we cannot access). It is never uploaded to us:

Your prayer log, streaks, and Qiyam reckoning.
Your Fajr alarm configuration and prayer-time reminder settings.
Your Salah Focus / Protected Prayer choices — which apps to lock and which prayers to protect (see Screen Time below).
Your advanced-worship (Istiqāma) log, including whether you registered as a brother or sister and any menstruation (ḥayḍ) dates you record. This is personal, sensitive information, and it never leaves your device.

What Leaves Your Device, and Why

Approximate location → prayer times

To calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction for where you are, the App sends your approximate coordinates (reduced to roughly city-level accuracy) to a third-party prayer-times provider, Aladhan, which returns your yearly schedule. That schedule is then cached on your device. Your coordinates are used only to look up your times — they are not stored by us, not linked to your identity, and never used for advertising or profiling.

Deeny Pro subscriptions → Apple & RevenueCat

Deeny is free to start. Deeny Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment — we never see your card details or Apple ID. To unlock Pro features on your devices and confirm your subscription status, we use RevenueCat as our subscription provider. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app-user identifier and the purchase and device information Apple provides to validate the receipt. It does not receive your name, email, contacts, or location.

Device Permissions

Deeny asks for a permission only when a feature needs it, and explains why at the moment it asks. You can change or revoke any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Location (When in Use): to compute prayer times and the Qibla, as described above.
Notifications: to deliver prayer-time reminders and the Fajr alarm. These are scheduled locally on your device — nothing about your reminders leaves it.
Camera:only for the optional “scan a code” way to dismiss the Fajr alarm. The camera image is processed on your device in the moment and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Motion & Fitness:only for the optional “walk” or “shake” way to dismiss the Fajr alarm. Step and motion data is read on your device for that purpose and is never stored or transmitted.
Screen Time (Family Controls):to let Salah Focus lock the distracting apps you choose until you've prayed. Your selection is handled by Apple's on-device Screen Time framework as opaque tokens — even we cannot see which specific apps you picked.

What We Don't Collect or Do

No advertising, ad networks, or tracking pixels.
No analytics or behavioral tracking of how you use the app.
No crash-reporting SDK collecting your data.
No advertising identifiers (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
No selling, renting, or sharing of your data for marketing — ever.
No account, name, email, or phone number required to use the app.

Third-Party Services

We keep third parties to the minimum needed to run the app. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

Apple — App Store, In-App Purchase, Screen Time, and alarm delivery (Apple Privacy Policy).
RevenueCat — subscription management (RevenueCat Privacy Policy).
Aladhan — prayer-times calculation from approximate coordinates.

Data Security

Because your prayer and worship data stays on your device, there is no central database of your worship for anyone to breach. A stable, random installation identifier is stored in the device Keychain. The little data that does leave your device — your approximate location and subscription validation — travels over encrypted HTTPS connections.

Your Choices and Rights

You stay in control. Because most of your data lives on your device:

Access & deletion: your on-device data is yours to see and remove. Deleting the app removes all of it from your device.
Permissions: you can grant or revoke Location, Notifications, Camera, Motion, and Screen Time at any time in iOS Settings.
Subscriptions:you can manage or cancel Deeny Pro in your Apple ID subscription settings. For the limited subscription data held by Apple or RevenueCat, contact us and we'll help.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to not be sold or “shared” — which we already do not do. To exercise any right, email us at deenytracker@gmail.com.

International Users

Deeny is available worldwide. The limited data that leaves your device may be processed by our providers (Apple, RevenueCat, Aladhan) in countries other than your own, under their respective safeguards. Prayer times are calculated from approximate coordinates and are not used to identify you.

Children's Privacy

Deeny is suitable for users of all ages and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the app as well. Our commitment to keeping your worship private will not change.
