Welcome to Deeny

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Deeny (“we”, “us”, “our”) and govern your use of the Deeny mobile application (the “App”). They also serve as the end-user licence agreement for the App. Deeny is built by Muslims, for Muslims, with the Islamic principles of honesty, privacy, and service at our core.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. Purchases made through the App are also subject to Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement; where these Terms and Apple's apply, both are in effect.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the App, and you must be able to form a binding contract. If you are under the age of majority, please use the App with a parent or guardian.

What Deeny Does

Deeny is a private prayer companion. Its features include:

Prayer times calculated for your location, with the Qibla direction.
Prayer tracking — a gentle, on-device tally of your five daily prayers, streaks, and Qiyam.
Fajr alarm — a wake-for-Fajr alarm with optional dismissal tasks (scan a code, take a few steps, or shake) so you truly rise.
Reminders & adhan — gentle prayer-time notifications and an optional call to prayer.
Salah Focus / Protected Prayer— an optional tool that uses Apple's Screen Time to lock the distracting apps you choose, from each adhan until you confirm you've prayed.
Advanced worship (Istiqāma) — an optional tracker for voluntary prayers, adhkār, and a daily Qurʾān wird.
Hijri calendar — Islamic date display.

Licence to Use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the App Store terms. You agree not to:

copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App;
reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except where law expressly permits;
use the App for any unlawful purpose or in any way that harms others;
circumvent, disable, or interfere with security or licensing features.

Deeny Pro Subscriptions

The core of Deeny is free. Deeny Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks advanced features such as Salah Focus / Protected Prayer, focused-time blocks, and the advanced-worship tracker. The following terms apply to all subscriptions:

Billing through Apple. Subscriptions are sold as Apple In-App Purchases. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
Price & plans. The current price and billing period (for example, monthly or yearly) are shown in the App before you purchase, in your local currency.
Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Managing & cancelling. You can manage or cancel at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Free trials. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms; we generally cannot grant refunds directly.
Restoring purchases.If you reinstall the App or get a new device, use “Restore Purchases” on the paywall to recover an active subscription.

Accuracy & Religious Guidance

Deeny is a tool to support your worship — it does not replace your own diligence or qualified scholarship.

Prayer times are calculated estimates based on your location, the calculation method you choose, and astronomical data. They can differ from your local mosque. Verify with a trusted local authority for important observances.
Qibladepends on your device's sensors and location accuracy and should be treated as an aid, not a precise instrument.
Worship guidance in the App — including notes on menstruation (ḥayḍ) and post-natal (nifās) rulings — is educational, reflects common scholarly positions, and is not a fatwa. For your specific situation, consult a qualified scholar.
Salah Focusis a self-discipline aid that uses Apple's Screen Time. It is not a security, parental-control, or tamper-proof guarantee, and its behavior depends on iOS.

Intellectual Property

The App — its design, code, and original content — is owned by Deeny and protected by intellectual-property laws. Quranic text and established Islamic content belong to the Islamic tradition; third-party content is used under the appropriate permissions. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or sell any part of the App.

Privacy

Your prayer log and worship data stay on your device; we run no ads, analytics, or trackers, and never sell your data. The only information that leaves your device is your approximate location (to fetch prayer times) and, if you subscribe, the purchase information Apple and RevenueCat need. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that prayer times will be exact for every location and method.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deeny will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Your use of the App is at your own discretion and risk.

Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device; your locally stored data is removed with it. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and material changes will be reflected in the App. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law, applied in good faith and with the Islamic principles of justice and fairness in mind. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you have under the App Store terms or your local consumer-protection law.
